Following a deadly shooting at 345 Park Avenue on Monday, landlords across Manhattan have heightened security at office buildings. NYPD officers and additional private staff have been spotted outside properties including 50 Hudson Yards and The Spiral. The gunman, 27-year-old Shane Tamura of Las Vegas, killed four people, including Blackstone BREIT CEO Wesley LePatner and a Rudin employee, before turning the weapon on himself.
Police say Tamura was targeting the NFL due to mental health issues linked to CTE, a brain disease associated with football. The tragedy has shaken the city’s business community and prompted some firms to allow employees to work from home temporarily. Rudin's building remains closed during the investigation.
